SMU led in the fourth quarter and Reggie Carrington almost sacked Houston quarterback Kevin Kolb for a safety. But Kolb got away and completed a 26-yard pass to Donnie Avery on third-and-19. From there, Houston drove for the go-ahead score.

"(Kolb) did a great job of staying up and found the receiver, and it sort of turned the game around," said SMU coach Phil Bennett.

Sound familiar? It should. The biggest play of Tulsa's 27-10 loss at Houston son Nov. 4 was Kolb's 53-yard pass to Avery on third-and-29. It set up Kolb to throw the go-ahead scoring pass to Vincent Marshall with five seconds left in the half. MORE>>

Manufacturers target Inland Empire - Contrary to rumor, factories are humming with products made in the U.S.A

Although manufacturers pay 25% more than the national average to operate in California, they continue to open factories in the Inland Empire.

California manufacturers pay more in taxes, wages, energy costs and rent, said Gino DiCaro, spokesman for the Sacramento-based California Manufacturers and Technology Association.

"It costs California manufactures 25% higher than the national average to operate," he said.

California lost 375,000 manufacturing jobs since January 2001, according to the association.

But the Inland Empire added 2,926 manufacturing jobs from 1998 to 2005, according to a report by Kevin Fleming, director of the San Bernardino Community College District Center for Business Excellence. MORE>>

Tulsa will try to do today what Oklahoma State could not do six weeks ago.

The Golden Hurricane will try to win a football game at Houston, where OSU lost 34-25 Sept. 23.

"They're the most talented and complete team that we've played so far," said Tulsa coach Steve Kragthorpe, whose Golden Hurricane have won six straight games since a 49-24 loss at BYU. MORE>>
